Download of the Day: Anxiety For Mac Users

Posted By Tech on Jan 25, 2008 at 3:15PM

Anxiety is exactly what I have all day long on busy days, even when I have online calendars and alarms on my cell phone set to remind me. But now I have the application Anxiety, which feeds my need for to-do lists I can check off as I do them. There is an indescribable feeling of satisfaction in checking something off your to-do list, isn't there?

Add tasks directly into the Anxiety window, which hovers on your desktop and when you check the little box next to the task, they disappear. Anxiety — which only works with Macs — also syncs with iCal. Now the only thing I have to worry about forgetting is adding the tasks to Anxiety!

Download of the Day: UnPlug

Posted By Tech on Jan 24, 2008 at 1:02PM

Our friends at lifehacker dug up this download that's awesome for when you see a video on YouTube or MySpace that you want to keep on your computer and have access to when you're offline.

UnPlug, a Firefox add-on, puts an adorable fish icon in your toolbar, and when you're on a page with an embedded video you want to keep, just click the fish and a download page will come up. The files save in flash, so if the files don't play initially, you can download the media player VLC to watch them. Now you are free to obsessively watch hilarious gigglesugar videos.

Today's download of the day is a Firefox add-on called Tinseltown, a holiday theme that includes Christmas icons, a candy-cane scrollbar, and snowflakes. Tinseltown works on Mac, Windows, and Linux and shouldn't peeve off coworkers like random, USB Christmas trinkets. To learn how to post your favorite sites to the Download of the Day group, read more

PriceDrop: Download of the Day

Posted By Tech on Oct 24, 2007 at 1:00PM

Whenever I want to purchase a big-ticket item from Amazon — whether it be a camera or TV — I always wait a few weeks to see if the price goes down, which quite often it does.

Thanks to lifehacker, I've just learned that there's a Firefox extension called PriceDrop that will track the prices of various Amazon products for you. Best of all, it will notify you with a pop-up window whenever the price drops, so you can quickly pull out your credit card. Price drop will also help you get a refund from Amazon if a product you've already bought becomes cheaper. Don't worry, there's no third party sketchy software installed with PriceDrop.
